History

The company was established in Macon, Georgia on 30 May 1924 and moved to Monroe, Louisiana in 1925. Collett E. Collett E. Woolman, one of the original managers, bought and renamed the company Delta Air Service on 13 September 1928. Service started with the inaugural flight between Dallas, Texas and Jackson, Mississippi, on 17 June 1929.

In 1941, Delta moved its headquarters to its current headquarters in Atlanta and continued to grow by adding routes and acquiring other airlines.
